HRP Europe Ltd. participated once again in the Intersolar exhibition, which took place from June 14th to 16th at the Munich Trade Fair Center Messe. As Europe’s largest solar exhibition, it provided an excellent opportunity for all stakeholders in the industry to showcase their products and establish new connections.

This year’s event featured 2,469 exhibitors from 57 countries, presenting their products and solutions in 180,000 square meters and 17 exhibition halls, along with an outdoor area. Over 106,000 visitors from 166 countries attended the event in Munich.

Unlike last year when many exhibitors were absent due to Chinese lockdowns, this year saw a strong presence from manufacturers across the industry. The main focus was on energy storage and electric vehicle charging.

In terms of market dynamics, Chinese solar panel manufacturers reported having massive inventories and significant storage in the EU, which temporarily brought down prices. However, expectations suggest that price stagnation will last for about 2-3 months before a general increase is anticipated. Furthermore, the global market outlook illustrates that the European market is growing at an enormous rate – even faster than most other regional markets in the world..

The exhibition placed special emphasis on presenting energy storage systems, essential for reliable and stable renewable energy supply. The significance of electromobility and charging infrastructure was highlighted, providing an opportunity to explore the latest developments and innovations.

The exhibition aimed to promote sustainable mobility and showcase the transformation of the energy industry – the demand for 24/7 sustainable energy production is increasing in sectors such as electricity, heat, and mobility sector.

In Hungary, several announcements were made regarding the establishment of battery manufacturing capacities. These manufacturers currently produce batteries for cars in Hungary but plan to expand their portfolio to include energy storage systems for solar panels as well. There was considerable interest around BYD, primarily known for their electric vehicles, which attracted significant attention this year.

Charging solutions for fleets, combined with affordable renewable energy production and sustainable mobility, were showcased in the outdoor area, such as the PV parking lot. Additionally, more test driving opportunities were provided to offer visitors a complete experience of electromobility. HRP Europe Ltd. initiated contact with several potential manufacturers to establish partnerships.

One of the keys to a secure and stable 24/7 renewable energy supply is battery storage, as it provides flexibility to the electric grid. The conferences began with high-quality programs, followed by companies showcasing their new energy production and mobility solutions.

The focus, as mentioned earlier, was on the intelligent integration of the electricity, heat, and mobility sectors into a single smart energy network, exploring possible combinations and integration of photovoltaics, storage, and electromobility.

The future electricity grid must be digital, flexible, intelligent, and integrated to ensure reliable renewable energy supply 24/7. Moving towards a verifiable system that matches carbon-free energy production with hourly consumption can accelerate the decarbonization of the grid, reduce costs, improve the accuracy of carbon reporting, and facilitate system flexibility.

The modernization of the electricity grid into an intelligent network, integrating prosumers, e-mobility, and heat energy concepts into a holistic renewable energy system, along with the efficient, 24/7 utilization of renewable energy sources, is the long-term goal.

HRP Europe Ltd., along with the Hungarian National Solar Energy Society (MNNSZ) and various Hungarian partners, met with international associations and partners, engaging in discussions about potential collaborations. The European market is experiencing tremendous growth, which was well-reflected at the exhibition. Exhibitors and visitors had the opportunity to explore numerous technological innovations, and distributors like HRP Europe Ltd. could establish numerous new partnerships and alliances, with hopes of fostering thriving relationships in the future.

PV Systems in the Business Sector

By the end of 2021, the price of electricity in Europe had increased by a factor of 2.5, and the price of natural gas nearly fourfold. SMBs are still protected by a Government Decree (627/2021. (XI. 15.)) until June 30, 2022, but what can a business do if it wants to protect itself from the explosion of energy prices expected on July 1?

Reducing carbon emissions has become imperative, and solar power is the most obvious option for replacing hydrocarbon-based energy. All over the world, there is an ongoing shift in the energy sector towards renewable energies, and business users today must also focus on preferring clean energies to polluting technologies. As long as environmental awareness was only a moral or ethical issue, only innovative or really progressive-minded companies invested in technological development. The immediate result was also more of a marketing and PR advantage.

Today, however, the surge in energy costs and the limited availability of conventional energy carriers are also encouraging businesses to think in new energy sources.

On which areas can solar energy be used?

The Sun provides more energy in a single hour than the Earth’s population consumes in a year.
Besides the well-known residential use, the electricity generated by photovoltaic systems can also be used for any technological process, and also for heating and tempering. Early adopters of the technology include the mining industry, machinery and component manufacturing, real estate management, the automotive industry, food industry, paper industry, wineries, animal husbandry, plant cultivation and sports centers.

The Hewlett Packard headquarters in California has been using solar energy since 2008, and Microsoft’s Silicon Valley campus has been using it since 2006.

Is it better to use solar power for technology than for residential purposes?

In residential use, the energy produced during the day is used in the evening and at night. In contrast, most businesses require energy during the day; the solar energy produced can be used immediately and it doesn’t need to be stored or recycled into the supply system. Only the excess energy needs to be stored in batteries or fed back into the power grid, also generating passive income for the company.

Even the smallest companies may consider the technological use of PV systems, as it isn’t the size of the company, but the energy demand that determines the performance of the system to be designed to serve the production or service process. And there is no upper limit to consumption: any energy demands can be met with PV systems—the higher the company’s consumption, the more it will save on energy costs.

It is easier to track the company’s energy management and even the ROI of a PV investment, as different software applications are available for PV systems, which can be used to track the energy consumption of the company, a production process or a service in detail.

The solar cells protect the roof. Roof-mounted solar panels also act as a shade: they absorb solar energy, sunlight doesn’t burn or damage the roof, and they even provide protection against harsh weather conditions.
